“Gone Country”

Beim ersten Betrachten der CD “Gone Country” produziert von der deutschen Countryband Blue Steel dachten wir zunächst: „Na ja, acht Coversongs, zusätzlich eine Wiederholung – wer weiß!“ Leute, wir wurden eines Besseren belehrt. Die 1998 gegründete Band, die 2000 die Country Music Trophy der deutschen Westernstadt Pullman City II gewann, geht an viele ihrer Songs sehr rockig heran: „Driving My Life Away“, „Blue Moon Of Kentucky“ und „Good Hearted Woman“ z.B. dürften durchaus nach dem Geschmack der Countryfans sein, die es einfach etwas härter mögen. Dazu zwei Versionen von „Gone Country“: die eine dicht an der Alan Jackson-Version orientiert, die andere akustisch (hervorragend!!) gespielt.

Having a first look to the songlist of the cd „Gone Country“ by the German country music band Blue Steel we thought: “Well, eight covered songs, additionally one repeated – o.k., let’s have an ear!” Folks, what a surprise! The band founded in 1998 and winning the Country Music Trophy 2002 of the German western town Pullman City II presents its very own versions of the songs: the rocking way of songs like „Driving My Life Away“, „Blue Moon Of Kentucky“ and „Good Hearted Woman“ might be the right thing for country music fans who like the “harder stuff”. There are also two versions of “Gone Country” on this album: the Alan Jackson-like one and a very interesting acoustic one (great!!).
