Jim Fullen

Hier ist ein Musiktip für Countryfreunde, die es traditionell mögen. Jim Fullen präsentiert auf seinem Album „Allegheny Mountain“ Musik aus dem „bible belt“, dem religiösen „Bibelgürtel“ der USA. Jim Fullen unterhielt bereits als 19jähriger Soldat seine Kameraden im Koreakrieg mit Liedern wie „My M-1 Rifle“ oder „Jumpboots And Parachutes“. Im Jahre 1957 veröffentlichte er seinen ersten Song „Rosie’s Gone Again“ bei Dot Records. Er trat in Shows wie dem Midwestern Hayride, dem Wheeling Jamboree, dem Old Dominion Square Dance und der Grand Ole Opry auf. Da seine musikalischen Aktivitäten nicht ausreichten, um eine fünfköpfige Familie zu ernähren, arbeitete er ab 1963 als Lehrer, begann einer Professur am Newark Campus und war 23 Jahre lang Bürgermeister von Hanover, Ohio. Inzwischen hat er sich erneut mit großem Erfolg der Countrymusic zugewandt. So erhielt er z.B. 1995 die Auszeichnung „Novelty Song Of The Year“ für den Titel „God Don’t Take American Express“ und 1998 die Ehrung als „Gospel Male Singer Of The Year“ der Nebraska Country Music Association.

If you really like traditional country sound, have a trip to Jim Fullen. On his album “Allegheny Mountain” you’ll find music coming directly from the “bible belt” a high religious area in the USA. Being a 19 years old soldier Jim Fullen enterteined his comrades during the Korean war singing songs like „My M-1 Rifle“ oder „Jumpboots And Parachutes“. But singing didn’t bring enough money to feed a family,so Jim Fullen began teaching in 1963 and started his professorship at the Newark Campus. He also was mayor of Hanover, Ohio for 23 years. Several years ago he reentered to country music having a big success (receiving for example „Novelty Song Of The Year“ for the title „God Don’t Take American Express“ in 1995 and „Gospel Male Singer Of The Year“ from the Nebraska Country Music Association in 1998.
