„That’s Me“

Rockabilly aus den USA, aus Großbritannien, aus den Niederlanden – ja, das ist uns schon ein Begriff. Mit dem Album „That’s Me“ haben wir zum ersten Mal Kontakt mit Johnny Loda, einem Gitarristen und Sänger aus Italien gehabt. Und boaaaaaaaaah – ist der guuuuuuuut!! Johnny Loda, der bereits 1982 seine erste Band, Nervous Kids and The Thunderbolts gründete, gibt als seine Vorbilder u.a. die Gitarristen Scotty Moore, Eddie Cochrane und Merle Travis an, und das ist in seinen Songs auch gut zu hören. Musik, die die Beine zum Zucken bringt und so auch aus einer alten Wurlitzer kommen könnte. Eine eigene Homepage war leider nicht im Internet zu finden, aber auf der Website von Blue Lake Records kann man in die Titel „Sleepin’ (Under The Old Oak Tree)“, das schnelle „I Don’t Need“ sowie in den schönen ruhigeren Song „Misery“ reinhören. Wir schauen schon mal in unseren Terminkalender, wann es uns mal nach Italien verschlägt – diesen Künstler würden wir gern einmal live erleben.

Rockabilly from the USA, from the United Kingdom, from The Netherlands – all right, there are lots of artists we know. But receiving the album “That’s Me” gave us the first contact to the Italian singer and guitar player Johnny Loda. And boy – he’s soooooooo good! Founding his first band “Nervous Kids and The Thunderbolts” in 1986 Johnny Loda declares guitarists like Scotty Moore, Eddie Cochrane, Merle Travis and others to be his most important influences, and you can truly find this in his music. A sound to make your legs move which may come from an old Wurlitzer jukebox. It’s a pity that there’s no own homepage by Johnny Loda to be found in the internet, but you can listen to some of his songs at the website of Blue Lake Records: „Sleepin’ (Under The Old Oak Tree)“, the quick one „I Don’t Need“ and the sbeautiful slow song „Misery“. We promise to have a look into our filofax to find a free date for a journey to Italy – we’d really love to listen to this artist live one day!
