Klova Band & June

Ja, das ist schon interessant, was uns da aus der baltischen Region in die Redaktion geflogen ist - eine CD der litauischen Gruppe Klova Band & June. Und das ist nicht nur interessant - das ist richtig guuuuuuuut! Der 1985 in Kaunas/Litauen geborene Fiddler und studierte Komponist Algirdas Klova gründete bereits die zweite Countryband Litauens, "Kikilis", und spielte anschließend in einigen Folkbands. Gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Jurate Miskynite-Kloviene (genannt June), die ebenfalls eine Musikausbildung abgeschlossen hat und mit litauischen Bands wie "Grass & Fever", "Bluegrass Friends" und "Wild West", zeigt sie auf diesem Album einen sehr schönen Mix aus Klassikern ("Jambalaya") und eigenen Stücken ("Bluegrass Style", "Vasara"). Algirdas Klova ist ein begnadeter Fiddler, was er bei einigen Instrumentals beweist, und June's Stimme ist wirklich wundervoll - gerade die ruhigen Stücke wie "Poor Wayfaring Starnger" und "My Town" sind ein Genuß, was Ihr auf der Homepage von Klova Band & June selbst überprüfen könnt. Einige Songs in englischer Sprache, andere in Litauisch - im Zeitalter der EU-Osterweiterung  sollte diese Band es nicht schwer haben, auch westlich ihres Landes ein Begriff in der Countryszene zu werden. Well, it's very interesting what came into our editoraial office from the European Baltic region - a cd produced by the Lthuanian formation Klova Band & June. And it's not only interestign - it's sooooooo good! Fiddler Algirdas Klova, born in 1985, studied composing and founded the second Lithuanian country music band ever, "Kikilis", and after it played with several folk music bands. Together with his wife Jurate Miskynite-Kloviene (named June) who passed a musical education and performed with Lithuanian bands like "Grass & Fever", "Bluegrass Friends" and "Wild West", they present a nice mix of classical country ("Jambalaya") and self-written songs ("Bluegrass Style", Vasara"). Algirdas Klova is a real great fiddler showing this by doing the instrumental pieces and June's voice is simply wonderful - we loved especially her slower songs like "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" and "My Town". Some songs performed in English, some of them in Lithuanian language - it shouldn't be much difficult for this band to become a name in the European country music scene in these days with the European Union opening up its eastern borders.
