Von Comstock Records aus Arizona erreichte uns das Album “What This Woman Wants” von Lorena Prater. Die in Atlanta, Georgia geborene und jetzt in Kansas lebende Künstlerin trat bereits in frühere Kindheit mit Gesang und Gitarre in einer Kirchen-Folkgruppe auf und spielte bereits mit 13 Jahren bei Hochzeiten und anderen Anlässen. Im November 1995 trat sie dem Burlington Jamboree (früher bekannt als Flint Hills Opry) bei. Ihre erste CD veröffentlichte sie im Jahre 1998, was sie in Kontakt mit Frank Fara von Comstock Records brachte.

Einen großen Teil ihrer Songs auf dem 2002 erschienenen Album „What This Woman Wants“ könnte man mit „von Frauen für Frauen“ beschreiben – viele Texte sind aus dem Blickwinkel einer Frau abgefasst. Lorena’s Stimme strahlt eine enorme Ruhe aus, die Songauswahl ist gut ausgewogen und reicht von Balladen bis zu Uptempo-Nummern.

We received a cd by Comstock Records from Arizona called „What This Woman Wants“ sung by Lorena Prater. Born in Atlanta, Georgia and now living in Kansas, Lorena started singing and playing guitar in a church folk group being a young child. She started performing at weddings and other occasions being 13 years old. In November 1995 she became a member of the Burlington Jamboree (former known as the Flint Hills Opry) and published her first cd in 1998 bringing her in contact with Frank Fara from Comstock Records.

You could describe many of Lorena’s songs on her latest album “What This Woman Wants”, published in 2002, as “by women for women” – many songs are written from a woman’s perspective. Her voice gives you a real quiet impression, there’s a good mixture of ballads and uptempo songs on this cd.
