Der hohe Norden Deutschland gilt eigentlich mehr oder weniger als “Country-frei”. Der ganze Norden? Nein, ein kleines Dorf namens Schönberg in der Nähe von Kiel wehrt sich verbittert gegen das Vordringen des Rap, HipHop und Soul. Die Hauptakteure in diesem Kampf: Die Musiker der Countryband Nashville City, die sich 1979 gründete und somit dieses Jahr ihr 25jähriges Bestehen feiert. Für deutsche Countryverhältnisse ist das eine äußerst beachtliche Leistung und daher hat die Band, die 1982 den ersten Platz beim Talentwettbewerb bei „Daviton Tonstudio“ belegte, Ende 2003 eine neue Single-CD „ProMotion“ produziert. Alle drei Songs („Faster Faster“, „Atlanta Blues“ und ihr Tribut an den 2003 verstorbenen Johnny Cash, „Ghostrider“) geben eine guten Einblick in die New-Country-orientierte Ausrichtung der Band. The upper North of Germany is considered to be more or less „free from country music“. The whole upper north? No, a small village named Schönberg near Kiel is fighting a hard struggle against rap, hiphop and soul. The combattants in this fight: the artists of the German country music band Nashville City founded in 1979 and having their 25^th anniversary this year. This is quite a long time for a German country music band and so Nashville City who won the talent contest of Daviton sound studios in 1982 decided in the end of 2003 to produce a new single CD named “ProMotion”. Listening to all three songs (“Faster Faster”, “Atlanta Blues” and their tribute to Johnny Cash who passed away in 2003, “Ghostriders”) are giving you a good survey on the musical way of this band whose style is full of new country sound.
