Laut einer Meldung von Countrystars.com wurden am 21. August 2004 Johnny Lee („Milk Cow Blues“), J.P. „The Big Bopper“ Richardson („Chantilly Lace“) und Mac Davis („Rock'n'Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life)“) als neue Mitglieder in die Texas Country Music Hall Of Fame in Carthage, Texas aufgenommen. Der in Texas geborene U.S.-Präsident George W.Bush gratulierte in einem Telefonat.

Laut einer Meldung von Hillbilly-Music.com wurde am 24. August 2004 in einer Pressekonferenz mitgeteilt, daß Bob McLean, ein Geschäftsmann aus Murfreesboro, die 1928 gebaute Gibson L-5-Gitarre der legendären, 1909 geborenen und 1978 verstorbenen Mother Maybelle Carter, für $575.000 gekauft und der Country Music Hall of Fame als Dauerleihgabe übergeben hat. Die Gitarre der Künstlerin, die seit 1927 zur ersten Countryband, der Carter Family, gehörte, war auch bisher schon im Museum ausgestellt, von dem nicht genannten Besitzer aber zum Verkauf angeboten worden.
Hillbilly-Music.com reports that in a press meeting on August 24th, 2004 Bob McLean, a business man from Murfreesboro, announced that he paid $575.000 to buy the 1928 Gibson L-5 guitar of legendary Mother Maybelle (*1909, +1978) and donated it to the Country Music Hall of Fame for permanent display. This guitar of Mother Maybelle who performed in the first country music band, The Carter Family, since 1927 had already been shown by the museum before but had been offered for sale by the unknown owner.

SunHerald.com aus Mississippi meldet, daß am 18. August 2004 die Bluegrass-Legende, der Gitarrist und Sänger Charlie Waller, in seinem Haus in Gordonsville im Alter von 69 Jahren verstorben ist. Der in Texas geborene Waller trat bereits 1955 in der Radioshow „Louisiana Hayride“auf und gründete zwei Jahre später die Bluegrassband Country Gentlemen, bei denen er zusammen mit seinem Sohn Randy bis zu seinem Tod mitspielte und mehr als 50 Alben produzierte.
SunHerald.com from Mississippi reports that on August 18th, 2004 the bluegrass music legend, guitarist and singer Charlie Waller, passed away in his home in Gordonsville being 69 years old. Born in Texas Waller started performing at the Louisiana Hayride radio show in 1955 and two years later he founded the bluegrass formation Country Gentlemen still performing with this band until his death together with his son Randy and producing more than 50 albums.
International Country Music Day
Laut einer Meldung von Hillbilly-Music.com begeht die spanische Country Music Association (CMA-Spain) am 17. September 2004 zum zweiten Mal den International Country Music Day, den sie als eine musikalische und menschliche Brücke zwischen Countryfans in aller Welt verstehen möchte. Als Symbol dieses Tages soll der Song „Hey, Good Lookin‘“ von Hank Williams dienen, der an diesem Tag 81 Jahre alt geworden wäre. Der Aufruf geht daher an alle Bands und Discjockeys, diesen Song am 17. September 2004 zu spielen, um so eine symbolische Verbindung zwischen den Countryfans in aller Welt herzustellen.
As Hillbilly-Music.com reports the Spanish Country Music Association (CMA-Spain) will celebrate The International Country Music Day on September 17th, 2004 for the second censecutive time to make it a musical and human bridge between country music fans all over the world. As a symbol representing that day on September 17th bands, discjockeys and country music fans worldwide are called to play and listen to the song „Hey Good Lookin‘“ by Hank Williams who would have become 81 years old that day. This shall be a virtual link between the country music fans in any country of the world.

William Lee Golden erholt sich
Ca. 1 Woche nach seinem Herzinfarkt befindet sich der 65jährige William Lee Golden, Mitglied der Oak Ridge Boys („Elvira“), auf dem Weg der Besserung. Das meldet WCHS-TV auf seiner Homepage. Neben mehr Bewegung (4 x 25 Minuten Gehen pro Tag) hat er auch seine Ernährung auf mehr Obst, Gemüse und Fisch umgestellt. In bereits 3 Wochen soll er wieder mit den Oak Ridge Boys auf Tour gehen können.
WCHS-TV reports on its website that 65-year-old Oak Ridge Boy member William Lee Golden is recoverivering from a mild heart attack he suffered about one week ago. He changed his lifestyle to walking four time each day for 25 minutes and consuming more fruits, vegetables and fish. He may return on the road again together with the Boys in about 3 weeks.

Der Countrysaloon "Chattahoochee" in Berlin-Schöneweide schließt nach einigen Jahren nunmehr seine Pforten.

Fan-Herzinfarkt unterbrochen
Ende Juli 2004 unterbrach der 55jährige Countrysänger Hank Williams, jr einen Auftritt im Pacific Amphitheater nähe Los Angeles für ca. 25 Minuten, da ein Fan in der vierten Reihe einen Herzstillstand erlitten hatte. Das meldet KXRB auf seienr Homepage. Der Besucher konnte auf der Bühne durch Sanitäter wiederbelebt werden und wurde in ein Krankenhaus eingeliefert.

Drummer von Poco erleidet Herzinfarkt
Countrystars.com meldet, daß der 57jährige Schlagzeuger der der Westcoast-Band Poco („Pickin‘ Up The Pieces“), George Grantham, am 1. August 2004 während eines Auftritts in Springfield, Massachusetts zusammengebrochen ist und in das Bay State Hospital eingeliefert wurde, wo ein Herzinfarkt diagnostiziert wurde. Nach einer Operation liegt er laut Mitteilung der offiziellen Homepage von Poco in stabilem Zustand auf der Intensivstation.
