CHRISTIAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS SHOW BESTOWS HIGHEST HONORS
The highest honors in the genre of Christian Country music were handed out
during the 2003 Christian Country Music Awards Show. The event took place at the
Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium, and aired live over GREAT
AMERICAN COUNTRY(GAC).
"This was the most important show in our history," stated Gene Higgins,
President and CEO of the Christian Country Music Association. "We can not
overstate how important it is to the growth of our music that GAC enabled
millions of fans to be there with us as it happened!"
Hosted by Lisa Ryan (The 700 Club) and Columbia recording artist Buddy Jewell,
the show featured performances from 17 guest stars, among them Jewell, Josh
Turner, Jimmy Wayne, Sherrie Austin, Craig Morgan, the Fox Brothers, Dennis
Agajanian and Dottie Rambo.
The following artists were selected for the membership-voted awards:
Entertainer of the Year: DENNIS AGAJANIAN
Male Vocalist of the Year: DEL WAY
Female Vocalist of the Year: PAULA SLOW
Vocal Duo of the Year: TWICE ROBIN
Vocal Group of the Year: FOX BROTHERS
Trio of the Year: JEFF TREECE BAND
Song of the Year: "Three Wooden Crosses" -RANDY TRAVIS
Songwriter of the Year: DOTTIE RAMBO
Mainstream Artist of the Year: RANDY TRAVIS
New Artist of the Year: GLENN KEARNEY
Musician of the Year: DENNIS AGAJANIAN
Comedy Act of the Year: ROY FOX of the Fox Brothers
Radio Personality of the Year: FRED BACHER
Radio Station of the Year: WTVY, Dothan, AL
Video of the Year: "Have You Forgotten?" -DARRYL WORLEY
Pioneer Award: DOTTIE RAMBO
Living Legend Award: CHESTER SMITH
Youth in Music Award: AMBER MORGAN
Music Evangelist of the Year: CROSSCOUNTRY

member-voted Christian Country Music Association Awards was the keynote
event of the Christian Country Music Association Convention. Next year's
Convention will October 31 - November 3, 2004 and the Christian Country
Music Awards (CCA Awards) will be November 4, 2004.
