Wie wir aus einem Newsletter von Western Heart Promotion (WHP) erfahren haben, plant Western Heart Promotion aus den USA im April/Mai 2005 eine erneute Tournee mit Independent-Künstlern durch Deutschland, Holland, Dänemark, Schottland, Norwegen, Belgien und Spanien. Country Special Radio Berlin wird die genauen Tourdaten veröffentlichen, sowie sie bekannt sind. Im Jahre 2003 hatte Country Special Radio Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit CME Germany ein äußerst erfolgreiches Wochenende „USA Meets Germany“ mit den Countrykünstlern von WHP im „Little Opry Saloon“ in Schönow bei Bernau organisiert.

European Tour Planned For 2005
In their newsletter Western Heart Promotion (WHP) announces their plans for a new tour with WHP independent country music artists through Germany, Holland, Denmark, Scotland, Norway, Belgium and Spain in April/May 2005. We will publish the detailed tour schedule as soon as we know it. In 2003 Country Special Radio Berlin and CME Germany organised a successful weekend at the „Little Opry Saloon“ in Schoenow/Germany presenting the country music artists of WHP.

Laut einer erhaltenen Email wurden die aus Buffalo, New York stammenden und seit 1967 verheirateten Sänger und Songwriter Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan am 25. September 2004 in die New York State Country Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Die beiden zusammen auftretenden Künstler leben seit einiger Zeit in Florida.

Die Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) meldet auf ihrer Homepage, daß am 19. Januar 2005 anläßlich des No Holds Barred Festivals im Wests‘ Diggers Auditorium in Tamworth erstmalig der Gewinner des neuen Golden Fiddle Awards bekanntgegeben werden wird. An dem Wettbewerb sollen Fiddler aller Musikstile, Komponisten, Lehrer und Gruppen teilnehmen. Der Award wird in sechs verschiedene Kategorien unterteilt.

Der am 23. September 2004 ins Houston Hospital eingelieferte 78jährige Countrysänger Ray Price (wir berichteten) mußte sich einen Tag später laut einer Meldung von CMT einer Herzoperstion unterziehen, bei der eine Verstopfung in einer Hauptschlagader entfernt wurde. Inzwischen befindet er sich auf dem Weg der Besserung.
78-year-old Country music singer Ray Price who was taken to Houston Hospital on September 23rd, 2004 (we reported) had to undergo heart surgery one day later to remove a blockage from a main artery, as CMT reports. By now he’s recovering.

CMT meldet, daß das 78jährige Mitglied der Country Music Hall of Fame, Ray Price („Crazy Arms“) am 23. September 2004 in seinem Haus in Mount Pleasant, Texas erkrankt ist und per Lufttransport in das Houston Hospital eingeliefert wurde. Einzelheiten über die Art der Erkrankung sind noch nicht bekannt.

September 2004 nach langer Krebserkrankung im Highland Manor Nursing Home in Portland im Alter von 74 Jahren verstorben ist. Roy Drusky war seit 1958 Mitglied der Grand Ole Opry und wurde mit Songs wie „Three Hearts In A Tangle“ und „Such A Fool“ berühmt.
In a press release the Grand Ole Opry reports that on September 23rd, 2004 country music singer Roy Drusky passed away after a long battle against cancer atHighland Manor Nursing Home in Portland being 74 years old. Blake Shelton in Gefahr!
Laut einer Meldung von Countrystars.com befand sich der 28jährige Countrysänger letzte Woche an Bord eines Flugzeugs auf dem Weg von Salt Lake City nach Louisville, Kentucky, als in der Maschine, vermutlich durch Vogelschlag Feuer ausbrach. Das Flugzeug kehrte zum Flughafen zurück und konnte sicher landen, keiner der Passagiere wurde verletzt.

Die Nachrichtenagentur Reuters hat inzwischen bestätigt, daß das Grand Ole Opry-Mitglied Skeeter Davis („The End Of The World“) am Morgen des 19. September 2004 im St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville an den Folgen eine über 15 Jahre dauernden Brustkrebserkrankung im Alter von 73 Jahren verstorben ist. Die als Mary Frances Penick in Dry Ridge, Kentucky geborene Sängerin wurde 5mal für den Grammy nominiert und trat in der ganzen Welt, so auch in der Carnegie Hall in New York und in der Royal Albert Hall in London auf. Am Anfang ihrer Karriere sang sie im Duo „The Davis Sisters“ mit Betty Jack Davis, die bereits früher bei einem Autounfall getötet wurde.

Laut einer Meldung der Zeitung Tennessean verstarb am 12. September 2004 der Schlagzeuger und Arrangeur Kenny Buttrey in seinem Haus in Bellevue nach langer Kreberkrankung. Der 1945 in Nashville geborene Kenny Buttrey galt als bedeutender Studiomusiker und arbeitete gemeinsam mit Künstlern wie Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel und anderen zusammen. Am 02. August 2004 wurde er für sein Engagement zugunsten der Organisation Giving In Faith Together (GIFT) ausgezeichnet (wir berichteten).

Bereits am ersten Tag der Versteigerung von Gegenständen des 2003 verstorbenen Countrystars Johnny Cash (wir berichteten) bei Sotheby’s in New York wurden überraschend hohe Erlöse erzielt, wie die Nachrichtenagentur Reuters meldet: Eine Grammer-Gitarre (geschätzt zwischen $10.000 und $20.000) wechselte für $131.200 den Besitzer. Weiterhin werden u.a. noch ein 1987er Rolls Royce und das Klavier aus dem letzten Video von Johnny Cash, „Hurt“, versteigert.

L. E. White verstorben
Der am 07. September 2004 in seinem Haus in Hendersonville, Tennessee im Alter von 74 Jahren verstorbene Songwriter L.E.White ist laut einer Meldung von CMT am 10. September 2004 beigesetzt worden. White schrieb unter anderem 1971 den Song „After The Fire Is Gone“, für den Conway Twitty und Loretta Lynn einen Grammy erhielten.
On September 10th, 2004 74-year-old songwriter L.E. White who passed away three days before in his home in Hendersonville, Tennessee has been layed to rest as CMT reports. Beside others White wrote the song „After The Fire Is Gone“ which made a Grammy awrd for Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn in 1971.

Ab dem 22.09.2004 wird das Country Special Radio Berlin neben seinen wöchentlichen Sonntagsradiosendungen eine weitere Countryradioshow im Internet durchführen. Diese Sendung wird alle zwei Wochen Mittwochs gesendet und wird über www.neueradiowelle.de zu erreichen sein. Schwerpunkt dieser Sendungen werden die Wünsche, Grüße und Termine der Countryfans sein. Neues Ralph Stanley Museum
Laut einer Meldung von Countrystars.com wird am 16. Oktober 2004 das neue Ralph Stanley Museum and Traditional Mountain Music Center in Clintwood, Virginia eröffnet. Das in einem 1904 erbauten victorianischen Haus befindliche Museum, bei dessen Eröffnung der Bluegrass-Musiker Ralph Stanley anwesend sein wird, zeigt Objekte aus dem Leben von Ralph Stanley sowie einen Einblick in die kulturelle Welt der Appalachian.
Countrystars.com announces that on October 16th, 2004 the new Ralph Stanley Museum and Traditional Mountain Music Center will be opened up in Clintwood, Virginia. Located in a 1904 built Victorian mansion the museum will present objects from the life and cereer of Ralph Stanley as well as a look into the cultural tradition of the Appalachian region.

LeAnn Rimes in Deutschland
Die 22jährige LeAnn Rimes („Blue“) tritt laut einer Meldung von Countrystars.com zweimal für amerikanische Soldaten auf: Am 23.September 2004 ist sie auf der Ramstein Air Base zu Gast und einen Tag später ist sie auf dem Vilseck Army Airfield auf. Beide Konzerte sind für alle Besitzer einer amerikanischen ID Card kostenlos.
Countrystars.com reports that 22-year-old LeAnn Rimes („Blue“) will perform for U.S. troops twice this month: on September 23rd, 2004 she will play at Ramstein Air Base and the next day seh will perform at Vilseck Army Airfield. Both concerts will be free for U.S. ID card holders
Johnny Cash-Auktion in New York
Laut einer Meldung der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters werden ab dem 14. September 2004 im Auktionshaus Sotheby‘s in New York verschiedene Gegenstände aus dem Besitz des 2003 verstorbenen Countrysängers Johnny Cash, darunter Gitarren, seine schwarzen Lederstiefel und eine Blechtasse aus dem Gefängnis Folsom Prison, in einer dreitägigen Versteigerung angeboten. Die Auktion wurde bereits zu Lebzeiten von Johnny Cash initiiert.
News agency Reuters reports that from September 14th, 2004 on several items including guitars, his black cowboy boots and a tin cup from Folsom prison owned by country music singer Johnny Cash who died in 2003 will be offered in a three-day auction at Sotheby’s in New York. The auction had been approached by Johnny Cash himself four years ago.

Johnny Bragg verstorben
Der Gründer und Leadsänger der Prisonaires, Johnny Bragg, ist laut einer Meldung von WCHS-TV am 01.September 2004 an Krebs verstorben. Der 1921 geborene Johnny Bragg gründete die 1944 Band während seines Aufenthalts im Staatsgefängnis von Tennessee und nahm 1953 mit ihr bei Sun Records den Hit „Just Walkin‘ In The Rain“ auf.
Founder and lead singer of the Prisonaires, Johnny Bragg, died on September 1st, 2004 from cancer as WCHS-TV reports. Born in 1921 he fonded the band in 1944 while imprisoned in the Tennessee State Penitentiary and in 1953 they recorded their hit „Just Walkin‘ In The Rain“ at Sun Records.

Laut einer Meldung von KXRB erwarten Countrysänger Chad Brock und seine Frau Natalie einen Sohn im Januar 2005. Es wird das zweite Kind nach ihrer Tochter Kennedy sein.
Nominierungen für 38. CMA Awards
Die Country Music Association (CMA) in Nashville, Tennesse hat in einer Pressemitteilung die Nominierungen für ihre jährlichen 38. CMA Awards bekanntgegeben, die am 09. November 2004 im Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville verliehen werden. Die Verleihung wird vom CBS Television Network live übertragen. Außerdem wurde gemeldet, daß der Sänger und Songwriter Kris Kristofferson sowie das langjährige Mitglied der Musikindustrie Jim Foglesong am gleichen Tag in die Country Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen werden.

In a press release the Country Music Association (CMA) in Nashville, Tennessee has announced the list of nominees for the 38th Annual CMA Awards which will be presented on November 9th, 2004 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The award show will be telecasted live by CBS Television Network. Also singer/songwriter Kris Kristofferson and music industry veteran Jim Foglesong have been announced to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on the same day.
