Ein äußerst interessantes Countryalbum erreichte uns dem südlichen Nachbarstaat Deutschlands, aus Österreich. Tex Robinson, „die Country Stimme Österreichs“, hat gemeinsam mit seinen Musikerkollegen Karin Räntschl-Schwaiger und Jimmy Roggers die CD „Colors Of Life“ produziert. Der Sohn des Countrypioniers Bill Herms mit 45jähriger Bühnenerfahrung begann bereits mit 10 Jahren mit der Musik und gründete nach einer Offizierslaufbahn beim österreichischen Bundesheer die Band Saltcastle Bullwashers.
Das Album überzeugt durch große Vielseitigkeit. Coverversionen von Songs von Hank Williams (sehr schöne Einspielung von „Hey Good Looking“), Merle Haggard („Sing Me Back Home“) und Bob Wills („San Antonio Rose“) wechseln sich mit selbstgeschreibenen Titeln ab. Besonders hinweisen möchten wir auf den schönen „Sometimes, Someday“, den schwungvollen „Sleep Tight Tonight“ und die inzwischen auch in Deutschland schon bekannte österreichische Fassung des Garth Brooks’ Songs „If Tommorow Never Comes“, „Wann’s für mi ka Morgen mehr gibt“. In viele Songs seines Albums kann man auf seiner Homepage hineinhören. Als Fazit bleibt festzustellen: Tex Robinson hat seinen Beinamen „die Country Stimme Österreichs“ wirklich verdient!
We received a very interesting country music album from the southern neighbour of Germany, from Austria. Tex Robinson, “The Austrian Country Voice”, produced the cd “Colors Of Life” together with the artists Karin Rätschl-Schwaiger and Jimmy Roggers. The son of the Austrian country music pioneer Bill Herms who’s performing for 45 years started playing music being 10 years old and after a career as an officer at the Austrian army he founded the band Saltcastle Bullwashers.
This is an album that combines different styles of country music. There are cover versions of Hank Williams (a wonderful “Hey Good Looking”), Merle Haggard (“Sing Me Back Home”) and Bob Wills (“San Antonio Rose”), but also self-penned titles on it. Listening to the cd we loved the nice “Sometimes, Someday”, the up-tempo “Sleep Tight Tonight” and “Wann’s für mi ka Morgen mehr gibt” the Austrian version of the Gath Brooks song “If Tomorrow Never Comes”, which is already quite well-known in Germany. On his website you can listen to several of thes songs. Yes, it’s true: Tex Robinson is really “The Austrian Country Voice”!
