 Tribute To Johnny Cash

Am Abend des 10. November 2003 fand in Nashville im Ryman Auditorium, der jahrelangen Heimat der Grand Ole Opry, die Gedenkveranstaltung für den am 12. September 2003 verstorbenen „Man In Black“ Johnny Cash statt. Tochter Rosanne Cash und Bruder Tommy Cash, Marshall Grant (der ehemalige Bassist von Johnny Cash’s erster Band Tennessee Two), Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, George Jones, der ehemalige US-Vizepräsident Al Gore und zahlreiche weitere Künstler gedachten mit Reden oder Songs der verstorbenen Country-Legende und versammelten sich zum Schluß der Zeremonie auf der Bühne zu einem gemeinsamen musikalischen Gebet: „We’ll Meet Again“. Vor dem mit ca. 2300 Gästen voll besetzten Ryman  Auditorium hatten sich noch mehrere hundert Fans in der Hoffnung auf Karten eingefunden. Die TV-Aufzeichnung der Gedenkfeier wird am Abend des 15. November 2003 bei Country Music Television (CMT) ausgestrahlt und soll auch als DVD veröffentlicht werden.

In Memoriam Johnny Cash

In the evening of November 10th, 2003, the memorial ceremony for the „Man In Black“ Johnny Cash who died on September 12th, 2003 took place in the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, home of the Grand ole Opry for a long time. His daughter Rosanne Cash, his brother Tommy Cash, Marshall Grant (former bassist of Cash’s first band Tennessee Two), Kris Kristofferson , Willie Nelson, George Jones, former U.S. vice president Al Gore and numerous other artists remembered the country music legend by words or songs and gathered on stage at the end of the ceremony for a common musical prayer „We’ll Meet Again“. Several hundred fans waited in front of the Ryman Auditorium for a chance to get tickets for the sold-out ceremony (about 2.300 visitors). The tv recording will be broadcasted by Country Music Television (CMT) in the evening of November 15th, 2003 and shall be published on DVD later on.
