"Country Made In Japan" - das mag auf den ersten Blick etwas exotisch erscheinen. Muß man nicht aus Tennessee, Texas oder Kentucky kommen, um den eigenen Puls im Country-Takt schlagen zu hören? Nein, man muß wirklich nicht, besonders wenn man bedenkt, daß der japanische Markt in den 50er und 60er Jahren neben dem britischen und irischen eine der wirtschaftlich bedeutensten Übersee-Regionen in Sachen Countrymusic bedeutete, wie in Deutschland ausgelöst durch amerikanische GIs. Genau in diese Zeitspanne greift auch das Album "Memories In Music" des auf der Kyushu-Insel in Süd-Japan geborenen Masataka "Hank" Sasaki, der durch einen Hank Williams-Song vom Countryvirus infiziert wurde. Mit der bekannten japanischen Countryband "The Blue Rangers" trat er in amerikanischen Militärclubs in Japan auf und besaß eine Zeitlang sogar mit dem "Chuck Wagon" einen eigenen japanischen Countryclub, bevor er 1988 nach Nashville zog. Inzwischen ist Hank Sasaki, Mitglied der Country Music Association und der Nashville Songwriters Association International, nicht nur in den USA sondern auch in Europa (u.a. Auftritte bei der Country Music Messe in Berlin) ein hoch geachteter Countrysänger und Songwriter.

Wunderschöne Songs finden sich auf seinem Album: der Eröffnungssong "Cowboy From Japan", der ruhige Merle Haggard-Song "Hungry Eyes"oder auch "Adios, Sayonara, Goodbye", hervorragende Countrymusic im Sound der großen wie Ernest Tubb, George Jones oder Conway Twitty. Leider gibt es auf seiner Homepage keine Möglichkeit, in die Songs reinzuhören, aber wir versprechen Euch: die Musik von Hank Sasaki ist nicht nur etwas für Raritäten-Sammler, sondern vor allem etwas für Freunde guter Countrysongs. Wer mit soviel Herz Countrymusic präsentiert, kann nicht exotisch sein - der ist "Pure Country".

"Country Made In Japan" - this might seem to be a little exotic. Isn't it necessary to be born in Tennessee, Texas or Kentucky to get your heart beat in a country music way? No, it isn't, especially when you think of the Japanese country music market being one of the most important oversea ones beside the British and Irish market in the 50's and 60's installed by the American GIs like they did in Germany. This is exactly the style on the album "Memories In Music" produced by Masataka "Hank" Sasaki who was born on Kyushu Island in Southern Japan getting his first contact to country music by listening to a Hank Williams song. He started performing in American military clubs in Japan together with the nationwide well-known band "The Blue Rangers" and opened up an own Japanese country music club named "Chuck Wagon" before moving to Nashville in 1988. Meanwhile the meber of the Country Music Association and the Nashville Songwriters Association International is a highly respected country music singer not only in the USA but also in Europe (several performances at the fan fair Country Music Messe in Berlin/Germany and others).

There are real beautiful songs on his album like the opener "Cowboy From Japan", the soft Merle Haggard song "Hungry Eyes" or "Adios, Sayonara, Goodbye", truely excellent music like Ernest Tubb, George Jones or Conway Twitty did long before. Sorry, there's no way to listen to his music at his homepage, but you can take this for granted: Hank Sasaki's music is not only something special for collectors of rare cds, but also a highlight for all friends of great country music songs. If someone's putting so much soul into country music, he can't be exotic - he must be simply "Pure Country"!
