Operation Helping Hand

 

Aus den USA erreichte uns folgende Email der Countrysänger Jack Blanchard und Misty Morgan mit der Bitte um Unterstützung für das Projekt „Operation Helping Hand“, eine Hilfsaktion für die Betroffenen der diesjährigen Hurricanes im Südosten der USA, die wir gern auszugsweise veröffentlichen:

 

From the USA we received an email from country music artists Jack Blanchard and Misty Morgan in which they ask to support the „Operation Helping Hand“, a project to help the victims of this year’s hurricane season in the southeast of the USA. For sure we publish this mail in extracts:

 

„(...)we are trying to raise money for the victims of Florida’s disastrous four hurricanes in a row. The movement is called „Operation Helping Hand“ and the number to call for donating is:

Many Country stars are involved in this effort to help people in real trouble. We live here in Florida, have been evacuated three times, and have had our home damaged, so we know the situation first hand. There is a large population of newly homeless folks, many of them seniors, who are not allowed back in their damaged homes, and don’t know where to turn. People are sleeping in cars, or anyplace they can find, and the power outages are enormous. Many are still without running water.

 

FEMA and other help agencies are stretched thin, and much needed help is slow in coming. You can see the stress and depression in the faces of folks you see on the street. Most of Florida’s population could probably use therapy or counseling.

 

Anyway, our fellow Floridians are in bad shape, and we’re happy to do our small part with Operation Helping Hand. We're grateful to Bill Mack for asking us.

„(...)wir sind bemüht, Spenden zu sammeln für die Betroffenen der vier diesjährigen aufeinanderfolgenden Wirbelstürme in Florida. Die Aktion heißt „Operation Helping Hand“ und die Telefonnumer für Spenden lautet:

Viele Countrystars beteiligen sich an der Aktion um den Menschen in wirklich großen Schwierigkeiten zu helfen. Wir beide leben selbst in Florida, wurden dreimal evakuiert und haben Schäden an unserem Haus zu beklagen, daher können wir die Situation nachvollziehen. Es gibt eine große Gruppe von Leuten, die jetzt obdachlos sind (viele von ihnen Ältere), nicht in ihre schwer beschädigten Häuser zurück dürfen und nicht wissen wohin. Sie schalfen in Autos oder irgendwo sonst, es gibt immer noch eine Vielzahl von Stromausfällen und häufig fehlt immer noch fließendes Wasser.

 

Die FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency  - Anm. d. Red.) und andere Hilfsorganisationen sind überfordert und die erforderliche Hilfe kommt nur schwerfällig in Gang. Man sieht den Stress und die Belastung in den Gesichtern der Menschen auf der Straße. Der größte Teil der Bevölkerung von Florida könnte psychologische Hilfe gebrauchen.

 

Auf jeden Fall sind unsere Mitbürger in Florida in einer schlimmen Situation und wir sind glücklich, einen kleinen Beitrag zur „Operation Helping Hand“ leisten zu können. Wir danken Bill Mack, daß er sich mit der bitte um Unterstützung an uns gewandt hat.
