Feuer im Bus von Tracy Lawrence
Während eines Essens erhielt Countrysänger Tracy Lawrence laut Countrystars.com einen Anruf, daß sein Bus brenne. Als er am Schauplatz ankam, waren Polizisten und Feuerwehrleute bereits durch ein eingeschlagenes Fester in den Bus eingestiegen, da sie aufgrund herumliegenden Spielzeugs seiner Kinder davon ausgegangen waren, daß noch jemand im Fahrzeug sei. Der Rauch stammte von einem Kabelbrand in einem Generator, der schnell unter Kontrolle war.
Countrystars.com reports that during a dinner country music singer Tracy Lawrence was informed by phone that his bus was burning. Reaching the scene he found that police and fire fighters had already entered the bus through a broken window because seeing some toys inside they supposed still persons being in the bus. The smoke was caused by burning wiring in a generator but the fire was extinguished pretty soon.
Willie Nelson:

Trotzdem er zur Zeit an Krücken läuft, will er seine geplanten Auftritte absolvieren.
Danny Bailey verstorben
Hillbilly-Music.com meldet, daß am 22. März 2004, nur knapp zwei Wochen nach dem Tod seines Bruders Charles (+ 10.März 2004), nun auch Danny Bailey im Alter von 85 Jahren in seinem Haus in Knoxville, Tennessee gestorben ist. Als The Bailey Brothers traten beide in der Frühzeit des Bluegrass in der Grand Ole Opry auf und ihre Songs wurden von Künstlern wie Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Flat and Scruggs und anderen berühmt gemacht.

Known as The Bailey Brothers they performe at the Grand Ole Opry during the early times of bluegrass music and there songs became well-known by artists like Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Flatt and Scruggs and others.

Tom Rivers, who was named „Major Market Broadcast Personality of the Year“ by the Country Music Association as well as by the Academy of Country Music, worked for WQYK, WYUU-FM in Tampa and Buccaneer Radio Network before becoming operations manager at 99.5 WUSN-FM in Chicago.

Das 1946 erbaute Gebäude Honeymoon Hideaway in Palm Springs, Kalifonien, daß bis zu seinem Tod 1977 Elvis Presley gehörte und als historisches Wahrzeichen anerkannt ist, wurde laut einer Meldung von WFMB für $1.75 Millionen verkauft. Elvis Presley hatte es 1970 für $85.000 erworben.

Während eines Auftritts in Savannah, Georgia am 20. März 2004 erfuhr der Sänger Gary LeVox der Band Rascal Flatts laut einer Meldung von CMT, daß die Geburt seiner zweiten Tochter unmittelbar bevorstehe. Der Tourbus von Rascal Flatt lieferte den Leadsänger, der die ganze Fahrt lang mit seiner Frau Tara telefonierte, rechtzeitig morgens um 06.00 Uhr am Krankenhaus ab, bevor Brooklyn Lynn am 21. März 2004 kurz nach Mittag auf die Welt kam.
CMT reports that on March 20th, 2004 singer Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts received the announcement that his secong baby will be born in a very short time during a concert in Savannah, Georgia. After the concert the tour bus rushed to the hospital with a lead singer hanging on the phone with his wife Tara the whole way long and delivered him in time at 06.00 am in the morning. Brooklyn Lynn was finally born on March 21st, 2004 shortly after noon.

Charles Bailey trat mit seinem Bruder Dan als die Bailey Brothers in den frühen Tagen des Bluegrass in der Grand Ole Opry auf.

Der 77jährige Bluegrass-Musiker Ralph Stanley, ehemaliges Mitglied der Stanley Brothers und der Clinch Mountain Boys, ist am 19. März 2004 von der Virginia Press Association als „Virginian of the Year“ ausgezeichnet worden. Das meldet CMT auf seiner Homepage. Der in Virginia geborene Ralph Stanley lebt immer noch in Dickenson County.

Einbruch im Elvis-Museum
Laut einer Meldung von WFNB haben Unbekannte am 21.März 2004 einen Einbruch in das Elvis-A-Rama Museum in Las Vegas verübt. Gestohlen wurden mehrere persönliche Gegenstände von Elvis Presley, u.a. eine vergoldete Handfeuerwaffe, eine Uhr und seinen Highschool-Ring. Die legendären „Blue Suede Shoes“, die sich ebenfalls im Museum befinden, ließen die Diebe unangetastet. Der Schaden beträgt ca. $34.000.

Laut einer Meldung von Takin‘ The Country Back hat der 77jährige Country-Yodeler Kenny Roberts kürzlich einen Schlaganfall erlitten, ist allerdings inzwischen wieder aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen worden. Der „King Of The Yodelers“ nahm als erster den Song „Blue“ auf, den LeAnn Rimes 1996 zu einem Welterfolg machte.

Glutreste in einem Papierkorb haben laut einer Meldung der Zeitung Tennessean im ersten Stock des RCA Buildings in der Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee am Abend des 13. März 2004 einen Brand ausgelöst. In diesem Gebäude befinden sich Aufnahmestudios und Büros. 34 Feuerwehreinheiten waren erforderlich, um das Feuer unter Kontrolle zu bringen. The building is filled up with recording studios and offices. 34 fire units had been necessary to fight the fire in which no people were injured. It caused a damage of about $100.000.

Die in Oklahoma und West Texas aufgewachsene Künstlerin gehörte von 1935 bis 1950 zur Band Chuck Wagon Gang („After The Sunrise“), die 1999 in die Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame in Nashville aufgenommen wurde. 1969 heiratete sie den Countrykünstler Jimmie Davis, den zweimaligen Gouverneur von Louisiana und Komponist von „You Are My Sunshine“, der im Jahre 2000 im geschätzten Alter von 101 Jahren starb.

Grown up in Oklahoma and West Texas from 1935 – 1950 she was a member of the Chuck Wagon Gang („After The Sunrise“) inducted into Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame in Nashville in 1999 In 1969 Mrs.Carter married country music artist Jimmie Davis, the two-time governor of Louisiana and composer of „You Are My Sunshine“ who died in 200 being estimated 101 years old.

Laut einer Meldung von ihrer Homepage hat die Countrysängerin Lucinda Williams alle restlichen Auftritte ihrer USA-Tournee wegen des Todes ihrer Mutter abgesagt. Die ab August 2004 geplante Tour durch Australien und Neuseeland soll allerdings wie geplant durchgeführt werden.

Randy Travis übersteht Unfall nahezu unverletzt
Der Countrysänger Randy Travis, seine Frau Elizabeth und sein Fahrer Jeff Davis haben einen Unfall mit ihrem Tourbus am Morgen des 07. März 2004 nahezu unverletzt überstanden. Das meldet CMT auf seiner Homepage. Travis und seiner Frau wurden allerdings im Bus umhergeschleudert, als der Bus in einen Graben fuhr. Zwei Abschleppwagen waren nötig, um das ca. 25 Tonnen schwere Fahrzeug aus dem Graben zu ziehen. Randy Travis konnte sein am Abend geplantes Konzert ohne Probleme absolvieren.

Nobody has been injured seriously when the tour bus of country music singer Randy Travis with his wife Elizabeth and driver Jeff Davis on board slipped into a ditch in the morning of March 7th, 2004 and Travis and his wife were flowing through the bus. Two tow trucks were necessary to pull the bus (about 25 tons) back onto the street. Randy Travis could absolve his scheduled concert in the evening without any problems.

Im Rahmen des Country Radio Seminar von Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB) im Nashville Convention Center in Tennessee wurden am 02. März 2004 bei einer Feierstunde die Radio-Diskjockeys Jaybird Drennan aus Akron, Ohio, Bob Duchesne aus Bangor, Maine, Jeery King aus San Antonio, Texas, Uncle Don Rhea aus Kansas City und Dr.Bruce Nelson, der zur Zeit in Corpus Christi in Texas sendet, in die Country Music DJ Hall Of Fame aufgenommen. Anwärter für diese Ehrung müssen mindestens 25 Jahre auf Sendung sein und einen erheblichen Beitrag sowohl zur Verbreitung von Country-Radiostationen als auch der Countrymusic als Kunstform geleistet haben.
