Am 22. Februr 2005 wurden laut einer Meldung von Twangtown USA während einer Zeremonie der Gospel Music Association (GMA) in Hendersonville unter anderem vier neue Künstler (Walter Hawkins, Mylon Le Fevre, Evie Tornquist und The Lewis Family) in die Gospel Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen.

Der zur Countrymusik gewechselte 34 jährige Sänger Kid Rock (eigentlicher Name Robert Ritchie) ist laut einer Meldung von CMT am 16. Februar 2005 in einem Club in Nashville wegen tätlichen Angriffs auf einen Discjockey festgenommen und gegen Zahlung einer Geldstrafe von $3.000 freigelassen worden. Kid Rock hatte am Tag zuvor an der Gedenkfeier für den verstorbenen Merle Kilgore in Nashville teilgenommen.
On February 16th, 2005 34-year-old singer Kid Rock (real name Robert Ritchie) who changed to country music has been arrested in a club in Nashville after punching the discjockey Kid Rock who performed the day before at the Ryman Auditorium during the Merle Kilgore memorial service has been released from arrest after paying a 43.000 bond. Für ihre Version des Kris Kristofferson-Songs „Help Me Make It Through The Night“ erhielt sie 1971 einen Grammy Award, andere Erfolgstitel waren „Then You Walk In“ (1971) und „Today I Started Loving You Again" (1975).

Der auch als exzellenter Squaredance-Caller bekannte Musiker trat in den letzten Jahren mit seinen Söhnen Tim und Shaun als McNett Country Band auf.

Twangtown USA teilt mit, daß der Radioveteran aus Nashville, Roger Schutt („Captain Midnight“) am 8. Februar 2005 in seinem Haus in Nashville im Alter von 73 Jahren gestorben ist. Der in Michigan geborene Radiomoderator arbeitete bei Radiostationen wie WSM, WKDA und WUSW.

Der zur Weltelite der Steelgitarristen zählende und in Ohio geborene Musiker begann seine Karriere gemeinsam mit Johnny Paycheck und spielte mit Künstlern wie Kitty Wells, George Jones, Loretta Lynn und Dolly Parton, bevor er Unterricht gab und selber Gitarren baute. Mitte der 90er Jahre spielte er nochmals in der Band von Radney Foster.

Der auch als „Alabama Flash“ bekannte Musiker, der als Jugendlicher die Band „Vernon Bozeman And The Happy Valley Gang“ gründete, spielte mit Stars wie Johnny Carver, Tanya Tucker, Leroy van Dyke und der Band Dr.Hook und war sechsmal „Instrumentalist Of The Year“ und fünfmal „Entertainer Of The Year“ der Florida Country Music Association. Er wurde in die Florida Country Music Hall of Fame und in die Mobile County Country Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen.

Redneck-Sänger Billy verstorben
Erneut wurde die deutsche Countryszene von einem schweren Verlust getroffen: Wie ein Lauffeuer sprach sich am Morgen des 29. Januar 2005 auf der Berliner Country Music Messe 2005 die Nachricht herum, daß in der Nacht zuvor der Leadsänger und Gitarrist der Berliner Countryband Redneck, Billy B.Brown, nach langer schwerer Krankheit verstorben war. Der seit 1971 in Deutschland lebende Texaner zählte mit der Band Redneck zum Urgestein der Berliner Countryszene und hielt die mit seinen Liedern die alte Honky Tonk-Tradition aufrecht. Am Samstagmorgen wurde die große Bühne bei der Country Music Messe 2005 zum Zeitpunkt des geplanten Auftritts von Redneck (11.00) im Andenken an diesen Musiker mit schwarzen Tüchern verhängt. Mit Billy haben wir einen lieben Freund, einen hervorragenden Musiker und eine wahre Berliner Countrylegende verloren.
Redneck Singer Billy - We Lost Him
In the morning of January 29th, 2005 a sad news rushed through numbers of country music fans at the Berlin fan fair Country Music Messe 2005: Billy B. Brown, lead singer and guitarist of the Berlin country music band Redneck, passed away the night before after a long and severe disease. Born in Texas Billy came to Germany in 1971 and was one of the roots of the Berlin country music scene keeping the old honky tonk tradition alive in his songs. On Saturday morning (when at 11.00 am the performance of Redneck was scheduled) the grand stage at the Country Music Messe 2005 was covered in black in remindance of this country music artist. The German country music fans have lost a dear friend, an excellent musician and a true legend.
