Merry Christmas Ev’ryone (Ron Davis)

Solltet Ihr von dem ständigen Einerlei an Weihnachtsliedern unterm Tannenbaum (“Stille Nacht die 1867ste – Action!!!”) die Nase voll haben – wie wäre es, wenn ihr dem Duft von Lebkuchen und Glühwein eine Prise Lagerfeuer und Ranchgeruch hinzumischt? Hierzu nehme man die CD „Merry Christmas Ev’ryone“ von Ron Davis, einem Songwriter aus Illinois, der 1954 seine deutsche Frau Emma heiratete und seit 1958 in Deutschland lebt. Inzwischen hat er 766 Songs geschrieben, die er gerne anderen Countrykünstlern zur Verwendung anbietet. Im September 2001 wurde er mit dem "Artistic Award of Merit"  von Airplay International King Eagle Awards in Nashville ausgezeichnet. Ron Davis sagt von sich selbst, dass er kein Sänger sei – aber schließt beim Hören dieses Album einmal die Augen und Ihr meint, einen alten Cowboy am Heiligabend im Bunkhouse einer Ranch singen zu hören. Songs wie „Cowboy’s Christmas“, „Snowflakes Fallin’” oder auch „Merry Christmas Ev’ryone” (unser persönlicher Favorit!) zaubern ein wenig Amerika in das deutsche Weihnachtsfest.
