Ach ja, es gibt noch richtig schönen Countrysound, der einen in die guten alten Zeiten der Grand Ole Opry und des Louisiana Hayride zurückführt, als Countrymusic und Steelguitar noch untrennbar miteinander verbunden waren. Solche Musik bekommt man auf den Alben „Yvonne DeVaney Collection“ und „A Good Thing“ (mit Wes Onley) von Yvonne DeVaney serviert. Man kann sie mit Fug und Recht als eine der „Großen Countryladies“ bezeichnen – die in Oklahoma geborene Sängerin und Songwriterin gewann bereits in der Jugend die ersten Instumental- und Gesangs-Talentwettbewerbe und war drei Jahre lang Mitglied beim „Ozark Jubilee“ von ABC-TV mit dem Gastgeber Red Foley. Ihre Songs wurden von Stars wie Pat Boone, Billy Walker, Hank Snow, Wanda Jackson, den Wilburn Brothers und vielen anderen aufgenommen und zu Weltruhm gebracht. Musik, wie sie einmal in den USA (und nicht nur dort!) aus den Musicboxen und den Radiolautsprechern erklang, Musik, die einen den Stress und die Hektik der heutigen Zeit einmal vergessen lässt.
Schade, auf der Homepage von Yvonne DeVaney kann man nicht in ihre Muisk reinhören. Dabei sind Titel wie die ruhigen „Lover’s Waltz“ und „Lady Paree“, Swingstücke wie „A Good Thing“ oder „Yodelin’ Swing“ sowie „Sittin’ In The Amen Seat“ oder „Tell Me A Lie“ so wunderschön, dass eigentlich jeder echte Countryfan sie hören müsste. Aber da gibt es ja zwei Möglichkeiten – eine CD von Yvonne DeVaney kaufen oder die Sendungen des Country Special Radio Berlin anhören, wo diese Künstlerin mit Sicherheit des öfteren zu Gast sein wird. Große Musik einer großen Künstlerin aus einer großen Zeit!

You can surely call her one of the “Great Country Music Ladies”. The Oklahoma born singer and songwriter won her first instrumental and vocal talent contests as a teenager. For three years she performed at ABC-TV’s “Ozark Jubilee” hosted by Redd Foley. It’s a pity but there’s no chance to listen to Yvonne DeVaney’s songs on her website. But boy, there are to possibilities to get them: Buy at least one cd of Yvonne DeVaney or stay tuned to the radio shows of Country Special Radio Berlin where this artist will become a regular, for sure. It’s just great music from a great aera performed by a great singer!
